Brief History

Donald Sample was a professional artist prior to joining the United States Army. He  served as a draftsman and eventually rose to the rank of lieutenant. But did not appreciate the secrets kept away from the public. He became a whistleblower, exposing various questionable practices to the press. He was arrested, demoted and sentenced to prison. But he still believed he was doing the right thing and had no regrets.

He was eventually chosen for the Dirty Dozen, his artistic skills useful in designing blueprints. His service was unremarkable. In the last mission of the unit, Sample found himself trapped between steel doors. When enemy soldiers started approaching, Donald detonated a grenade. He killed himself and took the enemy soldiers with him. His actions allowed other unit members to escape.
