Creation

Abysmia was created by Basil Wolverton and Charles Nicholas and debuted in U.S.A. Comics #1.

Evolution

There came a point in comics' time where whether or not Abysmia was even a real place was questioned. This was when one of its notable inhabitants, Rockman, was theorized to be a man named Daniel Rose who had gone missing in the 1940s. The thought was that if he was indeed Daniel Rose, that he had created the idea of Abysmia to cope with that trauma.

Later, it was revealed that Abysmia was indeed a real place in comics, as Doctor Doom and Victorious inhabited it, Scarlet Witch visited, and Victorious was able to teleport some other Marvel heroes to the location.
