The Otherkind are beings made of pure magic. Their energy source was stolen from them by original Lords of Order to be used on Earth. Spellcasting and talismans were ways of honing the power and hiding its usage, a semblance of order. Now, they want it back, and Nabu, seeing how magic has ruined the world, made it possible for them to try and take it.
